in a cerdip or cerpack semiconductor package, the leadframe area coated with aluminum to provide a surface suitable for wire bonding. The maximum area is defined by the inside dimension of the cap or ceramic ring. In some cases, the die attach area is also coated if a full leadframe is used. The coating may be vacuum deposited or bonded.
